Annual Parish Bazaar

This year's Annual Parish Bazaar will take place on Saturday 2nd November 2013 between 11am and 4pm at the Wesley Memorial Church Hall, New Inn Hall St., Oxford, OX1 2DH.

Irresistible expertly-prepared Russian, Greek, Romanian and oriental food for eating in or taking away, good quality books (in Russian and English), icons, gifts etc. Whether you are looking for hard-to-find books, want to try some ethnic dishes, ask
questions about the Orthodox faith, or just meet new people, the Bazaar is the place to go.

Last year's annual parish bazaar took place on Saturday 10th November at the Wesley Memorial Church Hall, Oxford.

The  bazaar was a great success - and for a while, the queues for the food were longer than I've ever seen!

Well done to everyone taking part, whether stallholder, chef, organizer, donor, musician, box-lifter, accountant, attendee, or any other role!

Welcome to our community!

Our parish is part of the worldwide Orthodox Church under Archbishop Job of Telmessos. We belong to the Deanery of Great Britain and Ireland , within the Archdiocese of Orthodox Parishes of Russian Tradition in Western Europe, an Exarchate of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

Our parish essentially follows the Russian Liturgical Tradition. We are of diverse Orthodox backgrounds, including Russian, British, Romanian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, and Polish. We have worshipped together for about 40 years with the Greek Orthodox Community of the Holy Trinity (a parish under the jurisdiction of Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira & Great Britain - Ecumenical Patriarchate) in the Orthodox Church of the Annunciation and the Holy Trinity, at 1 Canterbury Rd, Oxford.

The Divine Liturgy is celebrated in our church every Sunday. The Annunciation parish leads the services according to the Russian Tradition on the second and the fourth weekends of the month when the Vigil and the Liturgy are celebrated mainly in English and Slavonic. We also use some Romanian and Greek in our services. See the Schedule of Services for more details. The new schedule of services from February to August is now posted there. The routine of services includes

  • Saturdays - Vigil or Vespers at 5:30pm,
  • Sundays - Divine Liturgy at 10:30am, preceded by Hours (2nd and 4th week-ends) or Matins (1st and 3rd Sundays).
